Brett C. Moody
Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer


Moody National Companies

Brett C. Moody founded Moody National Companies in 1996, and today he serves as Chairman of the Board, Chief Executive Officer and President. He also serves as Chief Executive Officer and President of our advisor. Mr. Moody founded Moody Mortgage Corporation in 1996 and has served as its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer since its formation. Mr. Moody, who has over 25 years of commercial real estate experience, has since guided the growth of his Company from a mortgage Company to a full service real estate firm, which includes affiliates Moody National Mortgage Corporation, Moody Realty Corporation, Moody Management Corporation, Moody National Development Company, L.P., Moody National Construction, LLC, and Moody National Exchange, LLC and their respective subsidiaries, collectively referred to as the Moody National Companies Organization. His primary responsibilities include overseeing real estate acquisitions and management as well as building, coaching and leading the Moody National Companies Organization’s team of professionals. As Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Moody National Mortgage Corporation, Mr. Moody has closed over 200 transactions totaling over $1 billion. Prior to founding Moody National Mortgage Corporation, Mr. Moody was a financial analyst for the Dunkum Mortgage Group, now Grandbridge Real Estate Capital. Mr. Moody also serves on the Board of Directors for Yellowstone Academy, an inner city school for at risk children, and the Palmer Drug Abuse Program.


Robert W. Engel
Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Engel serves as our Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer. In addition, Mr. Engel also serves as the Chief Financial Officer — Real Estate Development and Management of the Moody National Companies Organization, a position he has held since September 2006. Prior to working at the Moody National Companies Organization, Mr. Engel served as the Division Controller, Real Estate Development and Management, of BMS Management, Inc., an owner and manager of commercial and multifamily properties primarily in Houston, Texas from May 2005 to September 2006. From November 1999 to May 2005, Mr. Engel served as Controller and Chief Financial Officer, Real Estate Development and Management for Hartman Management, Inc., advisor to Hartman Commercial Properties REIT, which provides commercial real estate services. Mr. Engel has a Bachelor of Business Administration with highest honors with a major in Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin. Mr. Engel is a CPA and holds memberships in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Engel is also a CPM, with membership in the Institute of Real Estate Management, and a CCIM as a member of the CCIM Institute. He is a licensed real estate broker in the State of Texas. Mr. Engel holds Series 7, 22, 24, 27, 62 and 63 licenses with FINRA.

David Gould, CHA
President – Hospitality Division

Mr. Gould is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the hospitality division including asset management and property management for Moody National Companies.  He has more than 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry, having worked for Marriott, Hilton, Intercontinental Hotels Group, Carlson and Starwood branded hotels.  Prior to joining Moody National Companies, Mr. Gould spent 15 years with Interstate Hotels and Resorts, the largest independent hotel management company in the world where he was Regional Director of Operations.  Mr. Gould has received the designation of Certified Hotel Administrator (CHA) from the Educational Institute of the American Hotel and Lodging Association.


Mary E. Smith
General Counsel - Securities


Moody National Companies

Prior to joining the Moody National Companies Organization in June 2007, Ms. Smith was an attorney at Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps LLP between October 2000 and May 2007, where she specialized in corporate and securities transactions with an emphasis on the representation of sponsors in private placements and real estate syndications, including limited partnerships, limited liability companies and tenant-in-common interests. Ms. Smith has acted as securities counsel in over $1 billion of tenant-in-common acquisitions including office buildings, retail centers, shopping malls, apartment buildings, assisted living facilities and hotels. Ms. Smith holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Political Science, summa cum laude, from the University of Southern California and a Juris Doctorate from the University of California, Berkeley (Boalt Hall). Ms. Smith holds Series 7, 24 and 63 licenses with FINRA.


Andrew Tomczeszyn
Vice President, Human Resources


As Vice President of Human Resources, Andrew Tomczeszyn leads Moody’s human resources-related functions in support of the firm’s goal to attract and retain talented employees across all business units.  Andrew brings Moody more than 20 years of experience in Human Resources, specifically in the areas of employee relations, benefits, compensation, payroll, HRIS, organizational development, workforce planning and performance management.

Andrew began his career specializing in accounting, information technology and management positions.  He later took on various generalist and management roles, with emphasis on training, performance management, compensation and organizational development.

Prior to joining Moody in 2015, Andrew led multiple teams and corporate functions for two large, multi-state companies headquartered in the Houston area.

Andrew holds a Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University and is a member of the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM), WorldatWork.org and HR Houston.


Stephen B. Woods
Vice President of Commercial Office Management


Moody National Management Company

Prior to joining the Moody National Companies in 2005, Mr. Woods was Director of Facility Services for all of Enron’s properties in Houston, Texas.  Mr. Woods has over 25 years of experience in property management, facilities management, and administrative services with two Fortune 500 companies.  During his tenure with Enron, Mr. Woods managed over 2.5 million square feet of property including the Enron Center Campus at 1400 Smith St., a 50-story, 1.2 million square foot corporate office tower, and 1600 Smith Street, a 40-story, 1.2 million square foot corporate office tower.  He also managed the company’s Data Center and Airport Hangar properties.  In 1997, Enron received the Building Owners and Managers Association’s prestigious “International Office Building of the Year” award for corporate facilities.  In 1999, 1400 Smith Street received the “Energy Star” award, the EPA’s highest award for energy efficiency. After leaving Enron in 2001, Mr. Woods developed a real estate consulting firm that specializes in property and facilities management.  Mr. Woods is a licensed Realtor and is a member of the National Association of Realtors®, Texas Association of Realtors, Houston Association of Realtors and Galveston Association of Realtors.

Lucy Tovar
Treasury Manager


Lucy Tovar has over 10 years of Treasury Management experience. Prior to joining Moody National Companies, she worked in the accounting department for NBC Holdings, a property management company. Ms Tovar oversees all treasury functions within the company. Her day-to-day responsibilities include company’s cash management, review daily cash transactions, update daily cash reports, weekly funding for asset Managed and Managed hotels, monthly distributions to investor and management of all company bank accounts. Lucy graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from University of Houston and holds a Texas Title Insurance Escrow License


Jan Burleson, CHA
Vice President – Hospitality Division

Mr. Burleson and his team are responsible for the management of the hotels managed by Moody National Hospitality Management.  These tasks include Sales and Revenue development strategies, recruiting, hiring, training, maintaining proper staffing levels, vendor negotiation, cleanliness, quality, service, and financial margins.  He has more than 25 years of Hospitality Management experience with Hilton, Marriott, Hyatt, Intercontinental Hotels and independent resorts.  Before coming to Moody, Mr. Burleson was a Regional Director of Operations for Alliance Hospitality in the Northeast.  Mr. Burleson has received the designation of Certified Hotel Administrator (CHA) from the Educational Institute of the American Hotel and Lodging Association.

Doug Dabbs

Doug Dabbs
Vice President and Commercial Escrow Officer, Moody National Title, L.P.


Mr. Dabbs is Vice President and Commercial Escrow Officer for Moody National Title Company, L. P. With over 17 years of experience as an Escrow Officer, Doug’s primary focus has been and remains on Commercial Transactions. Prior to joining Moody National, Mr. Dabbs worked for two National Agencies/Underwriters, and two large independent agents. His prior experience as an Abstractor and Foreclosure Specialist lead him to the Title Industry and has contributed to his success at Moody National. Mr. Dabbs is a member of the Texas Land Title Association.


Teddy D. Dykoski
Senior Financial Analyst

Mr. Dykoski is involved in investment acquisition and capital market activities.  Mr. Dykoski is responsible for sourcing and underwriting investment opportunities as well as supporting closing and investment management analysis.  Prior to joining Moody National Companies, Mr. Dykoski graduated from the full time Texas MBA program in 2006. Mr. Dykoski’s previous experience includes an associate program with the publicly-traded industrial REIT, Prologis, as well as approximately three years as a broker with Travis Commercial Real Estate Services, where he provided project leasing, tenant representation and investment sales services to commercial office customers. Mr. Dykoski has a BBA from Baylor University and a MBA in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin.  Mr. Dykoski holds a Texas Real Estate Brokers License.


Stefanie Sadka McGinnis
Vice President of Communications


Moody National Realty Company

Mrs. Sadka McGinnis joined the firm in 2005.  In 2006, she assumed the role of Director of Investor Services and help close over $400 million in real estate transactions including over $100 million of TIC transactions.  During the downturn of the capital markets, Mrs. Sadka McGinnis expanded communication to the more than 1,200 tenants in common.  Additionally, she facilitated loan modifications and coordinated loan restructures for 17 offerings consisting of more than 450 tenants in common.  In addition to her role overseeing the tenant in common investor relation, Mrs. Sadka McGinnis serves as alternate principal for Moody Securities.  Mrs. Sadka McGinnis graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and currently holds FINRA Series 7, 24 and 63 licenses.


Liana Santos
Director of Quantitative Analysis

Ms. Santos, Director of Quantitative Analysis, has been with Moody National Companies for over five years and is responsible for creating and maintaining financial models of existing investments in the hospitality, multifamily, and office sectors. In addition, she provides ongoing basis operating budgets for existing assets to identify strengths and weaknesses in property operations as well as regular assessments of actual and anticipated asset performance. Ms. Santos is also involved in all acquisition and underwriting of potential investment opportunities as well as all disposition efforts. Ms. Santos received a BA degree in 2008 from Rice University in Economics and Political Science.


Jimi Cheng, CPA


Mr. Cheng was born in Hong Kong.  After graduating from high school, he worked in a bank for four years before coming to the U.S. to further his education at the University of Houston, where he graduated with a B.S. in accounting. Mr. Cheng has been a CPA since 1985 as well as a member of AICPA and TSCPA. He has 35 years of accounting experience in various industries including commercial/residential construction, property management and hospitality. Mr. Cheng has served in various capacities as staff accountant, accounting manager and controller.


Alexander J. Sims
Director, Real Estate Transactions and Capital Markets


Moody National Companies

Mr. Sims directs acquisitions, dispositions, and capitalizations across Moody’s commercial real estate portfolio. In this role, he has closed approximately $750 million in transactions since 2014. His responsibilities include reviewing property due diligence, preparing settlement statements, securing financing and franchise agreements, reviewing loan documents maintaining, and maintaining transaction checklists. He has developed an extensive network of relationships across a wide array of commercial real estate experts – including lenders, franchisors, brokers, title companies, and appraisers.  Previously, Mr. Sims sourced acquisitions and development opportunities across commercial asset classes. In this role, he secured financing and franchise approvals from major national hotel franchisors, including Marriott and Hilton. Mr. Sims began at Moody by underwriting debt placement in Excel models for the Mortgage division. After graduating with honors from Baylor University, spent a year serving as a mentor with a non-profit organization, and he volunteers at a local health care clinic. Mr. Sims lives in Houston with his three children.


W. Logan Lee
Vice President of Investments


Moody National Companies

Upon joining the firm in 2005, Mr. Lee helped to form the Investor Services team and served as the Director where he closed over $500 million in transactions. He later transitioned into his current role involved in the structuring of syndications for Moody National’s various equity programs. As a result of his efforts, the company has syndicated approximately $1.4 Billion of real estate investment products. Mr. Lee holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Baylor University, and currently holds FINRA Series 7, 63, and 79 licenses. He resides in San Diego, California with his wife, Kara, his daughter, Lydia, and his sons, Levi and Luke, and is an active volunteer in the High School ministry of his local church. He and his wife serve on the Regional Board of Hope International, a faith-based non-profit organization focused on alleviating global poverty through microfinance.
